Julie O'Hara, LICSW
I am a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW) and have been in practice for over 25 years. I have a Master’s degree in social work from Boston University and received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Clark University. I have worked in a wide variety of settings including inpatient, day treatment, and partial hospital programs. I have considerable experience in outpatient settings including large community mental health centers. Prior to starting my own practice, I worked at Life Management Associates, a group practice in Harvard, MA.
I work with adults and treat a wide variety of issues including depression, anxiety, bipolar illness, and post-traumatic stress. I have extensive experience in working with trauma survivors and treating post-traumatic stress disorder. I have special clinical interest and experience in enhancing self-esteem and assertiveness as well as treating insomnia. My approach to therapy is eclectic and I utilize a combination of cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and interpersonal therapies.
I view therapy as a collaborative effort where we actively work together to meet your treatment goals. I am regularly inspired by my clients’ resilience and strength. I believe our work together is tapping into your inner resources, expanding your coping skills and problem solving techniques, and helping you to feel empowered and more in charge of your life.
Your relationship, comfort level, and trust in your therapist is vital to having a good therapeutic experience. I am active and engaging in therapy and provide a safe, warm, and open environment in which we can work together to help you feel better.
